Johnny Sauter finished third in the Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway to take the Camping World Truck Championship. Sauter, driving a Chevrolet, had three wins in the Truck series this season, including two in The Chase.
In his past three races before Homestead, he had two firsts and one second. One of Sauter’s three key wins was at the heavy braking Martinsville Speedway known as the “Paperclip.”
“We qualified bad for the race, but I liked our truck in race trim,” Sauter said.
“We had flawless execution on pit road and the team made great calls all race. I was able to find grip at the bottom of the track and move up. I am proud to be the champion.”
