Unlike MotoGP, which in 2025 has already contested 3 Grands Prix in Spain, the Superbike World Championship is making its season debut in this country.

The third-to-last round of the championship takes place at Aragón, which has already hosted 15 editions from 2011 to 2024.

In 2020, affected by the pandemic, MotorLand staged two rounds.

In total, 53 Superbike World Championship rounds have been held across 7 Spanish circuits, but none match Aragón in terms of appearances.

GP data

According to Brembo technicians, who work closely with 12 of the 14 Superbike World Championship teams, the 5.077 km MotorLand Aragón falls into the category of circuits that are highly demanding on the brakes.

On a scale from 1 to 5, it earned a difficulty rating of 4, as riders use the brakes 10 times per lap for a total of 28 seconds. Three braking zones are classified as High, 5 as Medium, and 2 as Low. Over the course of one lap, riders apply a total load of nearly 43 kg on the brake lever.

The toughest corner

The most demanding corner at MotorLand Aragón for the braking system is Turn 1: Superbikes slow down from 275 km/h to 94 km/h in 4 seconds, covering 191 meters, while riders apply a load of 5.4 kg on the brake lever. Deceleration peaks at 1.5 g, and the pressure of the Brembo brake fluid reaches 11.6 bar.

Toprak chasing the record

Toprak Razgatlioglu has won the last 12 races of the season thanks to clean sweeps at Misano, Donington Park, Balaton Park, and Magny-Cours.

By winning Race 1 at MotorLand Aragón—where he has never stood on the top step of the podium—he would equal the record for consecutive victories that he already holds, achieved last year, also with BMW.

In total, he has 75 wins in the Superbike World Championship, all secured with Brembo calipers, while riding Kawasaki, Yamaha, and BMW.

BMW 50

At Magny-Cours, BMW reached 50 victories in the Superbike World Championship, moving within 2 wins of Aprilia, fifth all-time, while Ducati reigns supreme with 443 wins. Toprak Razgatlioglu has contributed 36 victories in less than two seasons, accounting for 72 percent of BMW’s total wins.

And speaking of BMW, Brembo Racing manufactures braking components for over a hundred road and off-road models, ensuring high braking power, consistent reliability, precision, and control.

A braking duel

The first 4 Superbike World Championship races held at MotorLand Aragón were won by Max Biaggi and Marco Melandri: one victory each in both 2011 and 2012. Race 1 of the second edition in 2012 was particularly spectacular, with the two dueling through heavy braking battles.

Biaggi came out on top and later said that to stop at the end of the long straight, you’d need an anchor or a parachute, especially with the tailwind. Luckily, his Aprilia RSV4 was equipped with Brembo brakes.
