The Compasso d'Oro, created by Gio Ponti and regarded as the highest recognition in the design world, was awarded to Brembo for the excellence and innovation showcased by its Formula E brake caliper, designed for one of the most advanced and sustainable automotive competitions.
Alberto Bombassei, Chairman of Brembo, accepted the award during a ceremony at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, highlighting the significance of this recognition for the company. "It is a great source of pride for me and for the entire Brembo team," Bombassei stated. "This award celebrates Brembo's ability to elevate Italian expertise, combining creativity, design, and technology to produce high-quality products that are not only functional but also infused with aesthetic appeal and a love for beauty. This recognition motivates us to continue innovating, driving towards the future with the knowledge of how to brake."
The Formula E brake caliper embodies Brembo's decades of experience in motorsport and its ongoing commitment to innovation. Specifically designed for the world’s leading electric racing championship, this monobloc 4-piston caliper, made of aluminum alloy, combines high performance and lightness with a sophisticated design. Even under the extreme conditions of racing, the caliper maintains a dynamic and sporty aesthetic, in harmony with the electric vehicles for which it was conceived.
This recognition marks Brembo's second ADI Compasso d'Oro Award, following the 2004 award for the Brembo CCM, a carbon-ceramic braking system developed for road cars.
All objects awarded the Compasso d'Oro or an Honorable Mention become part of the ADI Compasso d'Oro Collection, which was declared of "exceptional artistic and historical interest" by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities in 2004.
Brembo is the official supplier of the FIA Formula E World Championship through Spark Racing Technology.
