The most innovative master cylinder ever developed by Brembo is now even more precise and modular for all types of motorbike

​Brembo - the world leader in the design, development and production of braking systems - announces the introduction of the 17 mm and 15 mm versions of the RCS Corsa Corta, the most innovative radial master cylinder for road use available on the market today.

The expansion of the RCS Corsa Corta family responds in an optimised and customised way to the needs of all types of motorbike, which can now rely on even more tailor-made braking thanks to the choice of ideal sizes of RCS Corsa Corta master cylinders (15, 17 or 19 mm) to suit the braking characteristics of each motorbike.


​To make the braking system of a motorbike work even better, not only in terms of braking power but also of modulation and sensitivity on the lever, the master cylinder must be sized appropriately and ensure the best hydraulic torque ratio; the latter being the relationship between the diameter of the master cylinder piston and the diameter of the caliper pistons.

This means that, depending on the size of the brake caliper pistons of each motorbike model, it is possible to choose the most suitable RCS Corsa Corta master cylinder for a perfect dimensional match with the rest of the braking system.

In fact, if a master cylinder is oversized, this pushes an excessive mass of oil onto the caliper pistons, to the detriment of braking modulation and lever sensitivity. On the other hand, an undersized master cylinder will not push through enough oil to ensure suitably powerful braking.


The 17mm version is designed to respond optimally to the needs of a growing number of motorbikes using brake calipers with 30 mm diameter pistons: Ducati Panigale and Monster 1200, Kawasaki H2 and ZX10R, Yamaha R1 and R6, KTM Superduke and MV Agusta F4RR.

The size is the perfect solution for ensuring the best performance and driving sensitivity with brake calipers that have 30 mm pistons, such as Brembo M50 calipers.

The 15mm version has been developed to ensure the best versatility for single-disc applications, as well as for motorbikes with a floating caliper and double disc.

This segment includes many motard and naked bikes, like the Ducati Scrambler, KTM Duke, Kawasaki ER-6N and Z750, Yamaha MT-03 and Triumph Bonneville T100.

The 15RCS Corsa Corta can also be used on all scooters with one or more front calipers for a total of 4 pistons.



The 19RCS Corsa Corta master cylinder, on the other hand, is still the best solution for all motorbikes with brake calipers equipped with 34 or 32 mm pistons, such as the Honda CBR1000, Ducati 1098/1198, BMW S1000RR, Triumph Speed Triple, Yamaha FZ9, Suzuki GSX-R 1000 or the Kawasaki Z1000.

The functionality of the 17 and 15RCS Corsa Corta remains unchanged compared to the 19RCS Corsa Corta, in that the driver is offered six different braking modulation options.

The driver can adapt the position of the braking ‘bite point’ and adjust the distance between the master cylinder centres through the Ratio Click System (RCS), thereby adapting braking performance to personal driving style and environmental and road conditions.

This is achieved through a selector located on the upper part of the master cylinder. The rider can switch between configurations in a matter of seconds, selecting a fulcrum-to-piston distance of 18 or 20 by simply turning the adjuster screw on the front of the guide lever by 180° with a screwdriver.

The system uses a cam (red when set to 18 mm, black when set to 20 mm), which adjusts the distance between the fulcrum point and the contact point with the master cylinder push rod by 2 mm: this changes the distribution of the braking force without altering the performance of the system in terms of pure power.


Detailed improvement studies have enabled Brembo to offer three master cylinders in one and further improve braking system performance.

What is more, taking advantage of the mix obtained by modifying the centres from 18 to 20 mm and the three maps – R (Race), S (Sport) and N (Normal) – as many as six different combinations are possible.
