Motard

Top class brakes for intense and repeated braking

Brakes play a major part in defining the motard genre. This is because the origins of motard lie in the transformation of enduro or cross bikes by replacing the wheels, front braking system and suspension. These are nimble, powerful bikes destined usually for sports use, where the brakes are subjected to intense, repetitive use.

Brembo creates extremely powerful, controllable braking systems for motards. A combination of a radial mount caliper, a radial master pump and a large diameter floating disc delivers performance worthy of a true sports bike and the capability to withstand very high operating temperatures.

For these bikes, Brembo produces 4-piston aluminium front calipers designed specifically for the space limitations imposed by the wire spoke wheels fitted to motards. These are matched with floating discs up to a massive 320 mm in size and radial master pumps.

Having fun even when braking

For fun bikes such as the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 ABS, providing torque of 115 Nm, Brembo designed a braking system that emphasizes driver enjoyment without sacrificing reliability. To keep the bike in check, engineers turned to a Brembo radial 4-piston front caliper and a brake pump. The brake system is very powerful and modular control is complemented by a brake pump and floating caliper at the rear.
