By vocation, scooters are conceived for city use, where, in spite of the low speeds involved, the brakes are used frequently. Reliability and reduced maintenance are among the most important characteristics required for these vehicles. More powerful maxiscooter models use systems with two or even three disc brakes - with dual front discs in the latter case.
For scooters, Brembo offers braking systems designed specifically for consistent performance, shock resistance and lightness. Brembo systems ensure extended mileage for each set of pads together with superior resistance to vibration due to the scooter engine itself, and to the poor quality road surfaces (e.g. cobblestones, tram lines etc.) that these vehicles frequently encounter.
Brembo systems for scooters use floating or fixed calipers with 2 pistons, fixed discs in diameters from 155 to 240 mm to permit installation on wheels that are generally smaller than on a motorcycle, and axial master cylinders with integrated reservoir.
