Audi’s 1-2 finish at the Long Beach Grand Prix this past Saturday was its third-straight win in the American Le Mans Series LMP1 class and the second-straight overall. Also in action at Long Beach was the Speed World Challenge where seven of the top ten were Brembo-equipped.
Six-time AMA Superbike Champion Mat Mladin and his Brembo-equipped Team Yoshimura Suzuki continued to make history at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama. Mladin has claimed the top rung of the podium all four races this year, increasing his all-time victories to 68, while the team has won 32 straight since the current GSX-R1000 was introduced.
The story’s virtually the same in MotoGP where Brembo teams were undefeated last year and have won three straight this year with Jorge Lorenzo’s victory for Team Yamaha in Portugal last week.
After two-time Nascar Cup Champion Jimmy Johnson’s first victory of the 2008 season last weekend at Phoenix (Brembo-equipped, of course), Nascar Sprint Cup was unusually idle this past weekend.
Duplicating his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen’s previous win, Ferrari’s Felipe Massa made it two in a row for Ferrari with his victory in Bahrain two weeks ago.
Coming Attractions: Talladega’s high-speed circuit, where brakes are seldom an issue, is next up for both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide series, while Audi shoots for four straight at Houston and Mladin chases his third-straight win at Fontana. Formula One is in Spain with Ferrari (and Brembo) looking for its third in a row, while Grand-Am is in Virginia and Nascar Truck is in Kansas.
