Frankfurt 2009 Auto Show

Here are the datasheets for 4 among the new models presented at the 2009 Frankfurt Car Show, on September 17 to 27.

Ferrari 458 Italia

Ferrari 458 Italia

458 Italia marks a breakover point compared the previous range, with a Pininfarina design, a compact and streamlined shape and a new engine, the first direct-injection V8 from the Maranello Manufacturer with a stout 4.499 horsepower, fitted in a middle-rear of the car. The braking system is Brembo-branded, with carbon-ceramic brake – provided as standard equipment as in all Maranello cars, and Brembo calipers, a piston pre-loading system that provides an even faster response. The whole set leads to a reduction in braking space which, within the 100 km/h-to-zero range, is only 32.5 metres.

Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari

Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari

It is the result of the co-operation between due Italian myths like Abarth and Ferrari. The interiors are personalized with “Abarth Corsa by Sabelt” black leather seats, with the shell and the cushion plate made out of carbon (weighing 10 kilos less than the standard ones). The small 1.4 T-Jet four-cylinder with fixed-geometry turbocompressor has been enhanced to exceed 180 HP at 5.750 revolutions. Changes have also been made to the to the braking system, with with two pieces assembled brake discs (284 mm in diameter) and fixed caliper with four pistons, both manufactured by Brembo, along with special dampers.

Maserati GranCabrio

Maserati GranCabrio

It is a Maserati as never seen before: GranCabrio is the first canvas-roof car from the Modena firm with four actual seats. The engine is an eight-cylinder 90° V engine of 4.691 HP, which can develop a 440 horsepower kick at 7,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 490 Nm at 4,750 rpm. The braking relies on a Brembo high-performance system consisting of four ventilated and drilled discs. For front discs (360 mm in diameter), the dual-cast technology (cast iron co-cast discs for the outer braking surface and aluminium co-cast discs for the hat) is used: a solution which, combined with six-piston one-piece aluminium calipers, assures moderate braking spaces.

Aston Martin Rapide

Aston Martin Rapide

It is Aston Martin’s first four-door car. True to its image of combined sportiness and elegance, Aston Martin Rapide can accommodate four adult passengers through as many "swan-wing" side and top-opening doors. The six-litre V12 gives Rapide the power required to reach a peak speed a little beyond 300 km/h and pass from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. The braking system is Brembo, with six- and 4-piston calipers and co-cast discs.
