Brembo Shoots For Ninth Straight Overall At Sebring

Already 2008 Winners in NASCAR, MotoGP and AMA Superbike

SEBRING, Fl., March 14, 2008 – Sebring and Le Mans may be very different circuits, but the results, as far as Brembo is concerned, are quite similar.  In 2007, Brembo won three of four classes in both the Mobil1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, winning both races overall for an unparalleled eighth straight year. Brembo hopes to continue this dominance at tomorrow’s 56th edition  of  the  12  Hours,  the  opening  round  of  the  2008 American Le Mans Series (ALMS).

Whether four-wheel or two, open-wheel, prototype or GT, since Brembo began racing with Ferrari in 1975, the Italian manufacturer of high-performance braking systems has won more world championships at more great venues than any other competitor.  In 2007 alone, these championships included Formula One, all three NASCAR crowns, the Baja 1000, MotoGP, AMA Superbike, all four classes of the Le Mans Endurance Series, all three classes of the FIA GT and the LMP1 class of the ALMS for the eighth straight year!

Brembo will supply nearly 40% the field for tomorrow’s race, including three prototypes and ten GT cars.  Leading the field are the two diesel-powered Audi R10s, including the #1 car with Dindo Capello, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish, and the #2 car with Marco Werner, last  year’s winner  at both Sebring  and  Le Mans, with youngsters Lucas Luhr and Mike Rockenfeller. Capello and McNish were the 2006 ALMS   Champions   (LMP1),   while Kristensen is the master of Le Mans, winning overall a record seven times.

Like Le Mans last year, the two Audis will be severely challenged by the #07 Peugeot 908 diesel driven by Pedro Lamy, Nicolas  Minassian  and  Stephane  Sarrazin which  finished second at the Le Sarthe circuit in 2007.  Also like Le Mans, all three will be running Brembo’s latest high-performance brake calipers and discs.

The largest battle will come from the 16 GT2 entries of which Brembo will supply brakes for the majority of the class.  This year the usual cadre of Ferrari F430 GTs (5) and Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs (6) will be challenged by a number of single entries from diverse marques, such as Aston Martin, Corvette, Dodge Viper, Ford GT and Panoz Esperante.

All told, 103 of the world’s greatest drivers, 35 high-tech cars in four classes, 11 different marques…several reasons why the 12 Hours of Sebring is one of the greatest motorsports events in the most competitive series in the world. In the end, hopefully, Brembo will be able to  add  another  12  Hours  of  Sebring crown  to  its  list  of  great  championships  after  this weekend.

Racing  teams  and  manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz AMG  and Lamborghini, who demand the best, turn to the experts  in braking technology and performance: Brembo.  The strong support and trusted relationships that Brembo has with more than 30 original equipment manufacturers and hundreds of championship-winning race teams in F1, WRC, NASCAR, IndyCar and sports cars, is based on the fact that Brembo is the industry benchmark.  There is no other company or product line on the market that can match Brembo's level of technology and performance.

Brembo, a world leader in engineering, development and production of high-performance braking systems and components, was established in 1961 in Bergamo, Italy.
