BREMBO JOINS FORCES WITH WAYNE TAYLOR RACING
Brake Champion Hopes to Help SunTrust Win Rolex for Second Time

DAYTONA BEACH, Fl., Jan. 26, 2007 – Indianapolis 500, Monaco Grand Prix, 24 Hours of Le Mans, Daytona 500. Whether four-wheel or two, open-wheel or prototype, since Brembo began racing with Ferrari in 1975, the Italian manufacturer of high-performance braking systems has won more world championships at more great venues than any other competitor.

But one venue has proved to be particularly difficult for the champions who prefer Brembo brakes: the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the classic twice-around-the-clock race that annually kicks off the season and the feature of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve. Strangely enough, a Brembo-equipped Daytona Prototype has only won overall once in Grand-Am’s seven-year history – a 2004 win by Bell Motorsports. Hopefully, this weekend will witness a repeat of the 2004 victory.

Brembo will supply nearly half the field for tomorrow’s 45th edition of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, including eight Daytona Prototypes and 23 GT cars. Brembo has typically fit most Crawford, Doran and Fabcar chassis since the Daytona Prototypes were introduced in 2001. However, this will be the first-ever Riley chassis as Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) has selected Grand-Am approved Brembo brakes for its #10 SunTrust Racing Pontiac.

Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli of SunTrust Racing were the 2005 Grand-Am Rolex DP Champions, as well as the overall winners of the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Taylor, in fact, is a two-time champion of World Sports Cars and the overall winner of the 1996 Rolex with Oldsmobile. If the recent Daytona test days are any measure, WTR’s decision may have been justified as Angelelli set the fastest time of 1:43.483 during the three-day test session in early January. Angelelli and Taylor will be joined by four-time NASCAR Cup Champion (and three-time Daytona 500 winner) Jeff Gordon and Le Mans Champion Jan Magnussen for the Rolex 24.
